Mosquitoes the size of Birds

Asian Tiger Mosquito
So last night Jeff and I heard the plane flying low over the house and got all excited. Mosquito Control was spraying and that usually means instantaneous relief. This morning I was shocked to see great numbers of mosquitoes still buzzing around the barn. Either the flooded ditches are just too infested for the spraying to have mattered or these bugs are building up some crazy resistance to the poison they use. Florida has some ridiculous eighty species of mosquitoes I recently discovered (
http://mosquito.ifas.ufl.edu/Mosquito_Database.asp) and from my own observations some are literally an inch long. I have become quite obsessed with keeping these annoying bugs out of my living space but not sure with how much success. I am one of those "sweet blooded" types who is always attracting and being bit by them. I can't wait for winter again.

I Think I Need a Pony

Jada has decided to ride everything, doggies and kitties included. We are waiting until she is at least three to get her a pony. I want her to understand and be excited when Santa leaves a pony in the barn with a big red bow for her. Part of me thinks I may be more excited about getting a pony. I never had one or got to ride them when I was a kid. I was fairly tall and therefore assigned to ride the horses always.

What to do when a bird lands on your head

Although I am not always a big fan of zoos, Jada and I and some friends had a great time at Lowry Park Zoo in Tampa. Feeding nectar to the Lorakeets was definately a highlight. The primate and elephant sections still always make me sad but the majority of the enclosures were setup very nicely with lots of space and pretty vegetation. The place is quite large too. We were there for at least four hours and didn't get to see everything.

It's an alien....or just Pony

Pony has been known to scare the neighbors' horses with his wonderous attire. His sensitive skin does not appreciate the wide variety of biting insects found in Florida. Jeff refers to him as the swamp monster when he rolls in the mud and I am horrified that my shiny horse is not so clean.

A First Timer

So I have a few friends who keep everyone up to date with their family craziness using a blog so I thought I would give it a try. I plan on still keeping Jada's site of pictures so don't forget to check them out whenever. I am still figuring this all out so excuse the mess while I do.
